This edition of the Registro Latinoamericano de Reproducción Asistida (RLA) 2003&2004 is the 15th consecutive year in which the results of the assisted reproduction techniques performed in Latin America are published. The reported procedures include the majority of the procedures performed in the region.

The number of centres reporting to the RLA has increased from 117 in 2003 to 128 in 2004. The number of procedures has also increased by year - 11.7% until 2003 and a new increase of 16.9% in 2004, with a total of 24,588 procedures of assisted reproduction.

The relative contribution of the countries to the RLA varies considerably. From the total of procedures, 64.6% are performed in Brazil and Argentine.
