The Latin American Registry of Assisted Reproduction
(RLA) is part of the Latin American Network of Assisted Reproduction (REDLARA).
Its main responsibility is to collect, analyze, and disseminate the results of
Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) procedures performed in centers that have
been certified by REDLARA.
The main objectives of the RLA are :
• assess
interventions in terms of their outcome .
• monitor trends on safety and
efficacy among centers, countries and regions
• empower infertile couples
in the evaluation of costs & benefits .
• robust data base for
epidemiological studies and as external QC for individual centers .
The
evaluation of these factors enables the board of directors to establish
educational policies to be implemented through regional workshops and other
educational activities .
Since its foundation in 1990, the RLA has
published 17 written reports (see image below). The most recent publication
includes information of ART procedures performed in 2007 by 138 centers from
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru,
Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela. At present we are gathering
information corresponding to ART procedures initiated in 2007 in 141 centers
certified by REDLARA .
The RLA is part of the International Committee
Monitoring Assisted Reproduction Technology (ICMART) which collects and
published worldwide data on ART .
