In order to encourage a deeper understanding on Bioethics, and promote a debate about diverse Bioethical Issues concerning Assisted Reproduction, we would like to invite you to take part in this FORUM, expressing your ideas, experiences and opinions.
This space, open to ideas exchange, is intended to enlarge our formation in Bioethics, which in turn will contribute to stimulate programs of Bioethics information and knowledge diffusion in our communities: this will help patients and legislators to take better informed decisions in the genuine pursuit of their own well-being, and the better for all.

Bernardo and Camila have had difficulties with conceiving - they have been trying by five years and have now asked help through ART. Specifically, Camila would like to be mother at 25 as she feels that it is the perfect moment. They are a very happy couple, with a strong sense of family. They are pillars in their community. Bernardo is HIV positive but he has been responding well to his treatment. Would you help them?

O tratamento de casais sorodiscordentes (homem HIV positivo - mulher HIV negativo)pode ser considerado seguro com a utilização das Técnicas de Reprodução Assistida, especificamente o ICSI; até hoje, a transmissão do vírus HIV foi negativa em todos os tramentos descritos.
Nossa experiência sobre o tema foi publicada em 2004, com uma proposta de modificação da técnica original de Semprini (BORGES JÚNIOR, E., et al. Processamento seminal e utilização da técnica de ICSI em casais sorodiscordantes para o HIV-1. Femina (Federação Brasileira das Sociedades de Ginecologia e Obstétrícia). , v.32, p.669 - 673, 2004).
Creio que este tipo de procedimento pode ser então oferecido com segurança para estes casais.
