The accumulation of left or not claimed embryos is a problem that has called very much the attention of bio-ethicists. Several solutions have appeared: as to donate them to other unfertile couples or for investigation or to discard them.
In Argentine in 1993, a lawyer of surname Rabinovich promoted an action to control the criopreservation of embryos, since according to him in agreement to the Civil Code the embryos are persons and what it is done with them, can be decided neither by the parents, nor by the specialists in fertility.
But, apparently, the lawyers can decide the destiny of the embryos, at least in some countries: In England in August 1st, 1996, in spite of a great discussion, the British clinics were forced to discard 3300 cryopreserved embryos, a great controversy being generated.
If a couple, in your center, was saying that they wish that their embryos should be discarded… how would you proceed? Would you discard them?
